Welcome to The Dairy Barn FAV Flowers series! In this series I will be going over five of my favorite flower varieties I grow here on the flower farm!! Theses beautiful blooms are staples in my cut flower field and used in every one of my bouquets while their respective varieties are in season. Without further ado my 5 fav flowers -
I discovered these beauties last season and now I can never not grow them! The scent has an amazing spiciness to it and they bloom so early in the season when we are all so hungry for color and beauty.
These garden classics have long been a favorite of mine and by growing them as cut flowers I’ve found a whole new world of beautiful varieties and have so many planted for next season! They add a fun spike feature to a bouquet which helps give it dimension and the floret shapes are so fun and velvety it draws you in and makes you want to reach out and touch them.
Specifically Queen Red Lime Zinnias! I received my first packet of these as a gift and now I’m hooked! To me they have such a romantic and vintage look and a great color that goes well with most everything else I grow. I love them so much in fact that I am adding two more color varieties from the Queen series this season - Lime with Blush and Lime Orange
I don’t think most people would picture basil in a cut flower bouquet but I LOVE it! It adds scent, texture, and balances out the blooms with a little green.
My favorite variety is the Vincents choice variety they were perfectly shaped with that classic sunflower yellow! These beauties are one the plants I succession plant all summer long to keep the blooms coming!
